BBC Post Production Bristol to create major factual programme in HD with Autodesk
At NAB 2005, BBC Post Production Bristol purchased Autodesk’s Discreet Lustre digital colour grading system and Discreet Smoke editing system, along with Maximum Throughput’s 9TB Sledgehammer HD!O NAS, in order to deliver 'Planet Earth' – a major production with Discovery and NHK.
Planet Earth will be the first major factual programme delivered in high-definition by the BBC, and will also be a theatrical release.
Phil Mead, facilities manager of Post Production Bristol, said: “The footage we receive from our clients is of the highest quality and is often, in the case of the Natural History Unit, unique. We wanted to be able to preserve the quality of the content and provide our clients with an efficient and cost-effective workflow for postproduction.”
Autodesk’s grading and editing technology enables BBC Post Production Bristol to deliver high-quality, uncompressed HD programs without compromising the quality of the content, while maintaining a smooth, sustainable workflow.
