KINOFILM 2001 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

KINOFILM, Manchester’s International Short Film Festival, is now inviting submissions for the 6th edition of the festival.
This year’s festival dates are October 20 - 28 2001, however entries should be submitted by June 16- with an extended deadline of June 30 (to be arranged in advance with the festival director) for those needing extra time to make their final cuts.
Entries are eligible from all sectors of the film making community for short films on any theme, subject or category and made on any format. The only restriction is films should be no longer than 20 minutes and must have been made within the last 18 months.
Film makers eager to make new work, can produce a short film for Kino’s special ‘5 minute quickie’ strand. The theme for this year’s competition is “Desire” and can be interpreted in any way, but must be made especially for the festival. The award for the filmmaker of the winning film is a £1000 bursary towards the production of a 10 minute short film for the 2002 festival.
As always, Kino continues to encourage the submission of Dance on Film projects, films from Celtic countries, and films made by Women Directors. Continuing from last year will be more new work from British Black & Asian film makers in celebration of Black History Month.
Lastly, this year’s special focus is Kino Chaos! AKA: New Underground Cinema.
