Captivate Launches 4K AI Dual-Lens Camera

Captivate, a brand of Hall Research, has announced the launch of the CP-PVOT-C1622, a 4K AI dual-lens camera designed for conference rooms, training facilities, classrooms and streaming applications.

The new camera combines an 8 MP PTZ main lens with 3x optical zoom and a 2 MP panoramic lens offering a 120-degree field of view. The combination enables AI-powered tracking modes to automatically frame a room and follow active speakers without requiring an operator.

The panoramic lens continuously detects participants across the room, while the main lens focuses on the active speaker. Four linear microphone arrays help localise sound and support audio-based tracking.

The camera features Auto Framing, Speaker Tracking, Presenter Tracking and Individuals Gallery modes. These are designed to support applications ranging from standard meetings and instructor-led training sessions to hybrid classrooms and gallery-style presentations.

The CP-PVOT-C1622 can deliver video through three pathways simultaneously. Its USB 3.0 Type-C connection supports up to 4K at 30fps for laptops and room PCs, while an HDMI 1.4b output can connect to displays, conference codecs, projectors or capture devices.

A LAN connection provides NDI output and supports Web UI and Telnet control. It also supplies PoE (PD+) power, allowing the camera to operate over a single Ethernet cable and potentially simplifying installation.

The camera also includes a USB 2.0 Type-A port for third-party peripherals such as speakerphones.

With USB, HDMI and network video operating simultaneously, the same room can support a laptop-based video call, an in-room codec and a network stream without requiring cables to be changed between sessions.

Designed for multiple environments
Captivate says the CP-PVOT-C1622 is intended for small and medium-sized conference rooms, training facilities, online education and streaming or production environments.

Presenter Tracking can follow instructors as they move around a training space, while Individuals Gallery is designed for hybrid education applications. For production workflows, the camera's NDI output can be accessed directly over the network.

The AI tracking features are designed to automate framing, while the Web UI allows IT teams to adjust camera settings remotely across the network.
