Lightcurve And Harmonic Partner
Harmonic has announced that Washington state broadband provider Lightcurve is delivering multi-gigabit services to Multi‑Dwelling Units (MDUs) over in‑building coaxial wiring using Harmonic's cOS virtualised broadband platform.
The rollout provides fibre‑like speeds of up to 8 Gbps downstream and 1 Gbps upstream without the need to replace existing cabling, strengthening Lightcurve’s competitive position, meeting growing subscriber demand and maximising the value of current network investments.
"By pairing Harmonic's Oyster solution with cOS and with the coax infrastructure already in place in the communities we serve, we're able to bring multi-gigabit speeds to our MDU customers quickly and cost-effectively, while keeping the door open to fiber as our network continues to evolve," said Dr. Pao Lo, COO at Lightcurve. "It's the kind of practical, forward-looking approach our subscribers in Washington state have come to expect from Lightcurve."
Lightcurve is advancing its multi‑gigabit strategy via a software upgrade to the cOS Core alongside deployment of Harmonic's compact, low‑power Oyster nodes equipped with Pebble Remote PHY devices within a distributed access architecture (DAA). The cOS virtualised platform supports both DOCSIS and fibre, giving the operator flexibility to evolve the network as needs and investment priorities change.
The provider is also adopting Harmonic’s Central AI‑driven network intelligence and operations tools to secure continuous analytics and visibility, enabling proactive fault detection and troubleshooting for a consistent subscriber experience.
Harmonic will showcase its cOS virtualised broadband platform and other innovations at SCTE TechExpo26 from 29 September to 1 October, on booth A153.
