Midco Leverages Harmonic's cOS™ Virtualised Broadband Platform

Harmonic has announced that Midco, a leading broadband operator in the Midwest, is leveraging Harmonic's industry-leading cOS™ virtualised broadband platform to modernise its network and deliver reliable multi-gigabit connectivity to subscribers.
Harmonic's solution provides Midco with a robust network foundation to support DOCSIS and fiber services, powering the operator's $500 million Fiber Forward investment, an expansive commitment that leverages the company's robust fibre network and next-gen fibre technology to bring 10 gigabit speeds to the region.
"Network evolution is central to our strategy for delivering the region's most reliable broadband services and providing exceptional customer experiences," said Bill Chatwell, senior vice president of technology at Midco. "Harmonic's virtualised broadband platform supports DOCSIS and fibre from the same solution, while offering outstanding uptime and proven performance — making them the clear choice. Our partnership with Harmonic aligns seamlessly with our vision and roadmap for growth, empowering us to expand broadband services and deliver high-speed connectivity to our customers."
Midco is deploying Harmonic's cOS broadband platform in a distributed access architecture (DAA) with Pebble Remote PHY Devices and Ripple modular DAA nodes. The Ripple nodes provide Midco with a flexible solution that opens a range of options for fibre service delivery. The comprehensive Harmonic solution provides Midco with a common platform for DOCSIS and fibre services while minimising hardware and power requirements, significantly reducing expenses.
Featuring advanced telemetry, Harmonic's AI-powered cOS Central will automate workflows for Midco and offer real-time network visibility for proactive resolution of network issues. This will ensure a consistent, reliable and high-quality broadband experience for Midco subscribers.
"Midco is setting a new benchmark for multi-gigabit broadband innovation in the Midwest," said Nimrod Ben-Natan, president and CEO at Harmonic. "Our collaboration demonstrates the power of virtualisation to unlock faster speeds, reduce costs, simplify future upgrades and bring next-gen broadband connectivity to more communities."
Harmonic is the market share leader in cable broadband equipment, virtual CMTS and DAA, according to Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks and data centre IT industries. The company's market-leading cOS platform powers next-gen broadband services through more than 35 million customer CPE devices worldwide for leading operators in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.
Harmonic will demonstrate the latest advancements to the cOS virtualised broadband platform at SCTE TechExpo25, Sept. 29-Oct.1 in booth H1065.
