Commonwealth Film Festival calls for entries

The Commonwealth Film Festival is calling for new features, shorts and documentaries from across the 71 nations of the Commonwealth, to be showcased at the event in Manchester, England, between April 29 and May 8 2005.
The Festival is now a highly anticipated landmark on the British cultural calendar and will take up a multitude of screens and party venues across the city centre. As one of the largest film festivals in England, featuring many UK premieres, it attracts industry and press attention from across the globe. It is the perfect stopover for talent and prints on the way to Cannes. New films by celebrated Commonwealth filmmakers will be premiered at Gala Screenings every night of the festival, as well as works from emerging artists showcased throughout the 10 day festival, alongside a full programme of debates, networking events and workshops involving visiting filmmakers, critics and industry representatives.
Visiting filmmakers will benefit from Manchester’s film-savvy audience and the Festival’s already established reputation for hospitality and programming integrity. The prestigious Audience Awards will reward the most popular films with substantial cash prizes.
