British Speedway Lands ITV Coverage And Cab Direct Backing

British Speedway has secured a major broadcast and sponsorship boost ahead of this year’s British Championship at Manchester's National Speedway Stadium.

The prestigious event on August 15, starting at 7pm, will be broadcast live across ITV4 and ITVX, marking a return to ITV platforms for British Speedway.

The meeting will also carry the Cab Direct name after the long-standing Championship backers agreed a deal to become title sponsors of the event.

Grand Prix star Robert Lambert will defend the British title on home soil, with the reigning champion currently also in contention for the World Championship.

Lambert produced a dramatic finish at the same venue last year to claim his second British crown. He edged out former champions Charles Wright, Dan Bewley and Chris Harris in a thrilling four-rider, four-lap decider that went down to the final stages and was widely hailed as one of the sport’s greatest British Championship races.

The ITV deal will also rekindle memories of speedway’s long association with the broadcaster, including its coverage on the iconic World of Sport programme, which continued until the mid-1980s.

ITV4 is already an established home for major motorsport, including the British Touring Car Championship, while also serving as a free-to-air broadcast partner for the FIA Formula E series. ITVX is ITV's streaming platform, offering both live programming and exclusive content.
