GatesAir To Showcase Next-Generation Maxiva XTK Software-Defined Exciter
GatesAir is set to introduce its next-generation Maxiva™ XTK software-defined exciter to international broadcast audiences at IBC2026, taking place from September 11-14 at the RAI Amsterdam.
The company will position the platform as the latest signal processing engine for its Maxiva family of digital television and DAB/DAB+ radio transmitters.
Designed to support broadcasters operating across global digital transmission standards, the Maxiva XTK combines advanced signal processing capabilities, Transport over IP (TSoIP) functionality and software-defined flexibility. GatesAir said the platform is designed to simplify current digital broadcasting operations while providing a foundation for future transmission technologies.
Building on the company's long history of transmission innovation, the Maxiva XTK delivers signal processing support for major digital television standards worldwide, including DVB-T2, ATSC 1.0, ATSC 3.0, ISDB-Tb and Brazil's emerging DTV+. The same software-defined architecture is also extended to DAB and DAB+ radio networks.
The FPGA-based platform increases processing capacity and incorporates Real-Time Adaptive Correction techniques to optimise signal performance across a wide range of RF amplifier configurations. GatesAir said this enables reliable, high-performance operation for broadcasters regardless of network architecture.
The Maxiva XTK has been developed as a common technology platform for the company’s Maxiva transmitter portfolio, supporting current transmission requirements while allowing future digital standards to be introduced through field firmware updates. Its modular design also provides a pathway for optional internal satellite and RF input capabilities, extending the platform’s long-term flexibility.

"Whether broadcasters are operating digital television or DAB radio networks, the XTK delivers the performance, flexibility and investment protection they need to confidently adapt to changing technologies while maintaining the exceptional reliability that defines every Maxiva transmitter."
The Maxiva XTK will come as standard on GatesAir’s newest Maxiva television transmitter platforms and will remain compatible with previous-generation Maxiva UHF and VHF transmitters, as well as many Harris legacy digital television systems.
Through its backwards-compatible design, GatesAir said broadcasters will be able to upgrade signal processing capabilities while continuing to use existing transmission infrastructure, helping to reduce upgrade costs and simplify transitions to new digital standards.
Visitors to IBC2026 will be able to see the Maxiva XTK and GatesAir's wider portfolio of television and radio transmission solutions at Stand 8.B75, where the company will demonstrate technologies aimed at improving transmission efficiency, streamlining operations and supporting the future of over-the-air broadcasting.
