Divine Concert Sound Debuts Southern Africa's First HK Audio COSMO System

Zimbabwean rental house Divine Concert Sound recently deployed its brand-new HK Audio COSMO system to cover the Harare edition of the Doek & Slay festival. By acquiring HK Audio’s flagship line array system, the company has officially become the first COSMO user in the southern African region, marking a major technical milestone for the local live event production market.

Divine Concert Sound is one of the busiest and best-known production companies in Zimbabwe. As a longstanding HK Audio partner, the rental house has benefitted from a comprehensive inventory of the German manufacturer's equipment, including the COHEDRA line array. The latest addition to its roster has seen the rental house invest in the COSMO line array system as well as CONTOUR X point source cabinets and C Sub subwoofers for high-performance low end.

"We are delighted that Divine Concert Sound has become the first COSMO user in southern Africa," said HK Audio International Sales Manager for Africa, David Leonhard. "They have a long history of using HK Audio equipment and this is just the start of the next chapter in our relationship."

Hosted at the Glamis Arena, the Harare edition of Doek & Slay provided the perfect opportunity to put the new COSMO system through its paces. Described by its organizer as "a safe space where women can express themselves openly and without judgement", the travelling festival brings major Zimbabwean acts to all-female audiences across the country. For the first Harare edition of the year, this saw headline performances from the likes of Winky D, Killer T, Oriyano and the Travellers Band plus a surprise set from Atenda Chinx. The open-air festival attracted a crowd of 25,000 women, and was the perfect event for COSMO's first use in southern Africa.

To ensure that Divine Concert Sound got the most out of its investment, HK Audio Application Support Engineer Karel Noon joined Leonhard in Zimbabwe to provide comprehensive training on the new system. "Using a brand-new system on a major event can be nerve-wracking, but David Mwale and his team at Divine Concert Sound did an excellent job," recalled Noon. "They have a deep knowledge of HK Audio equipment and were able to get the best out of COSMO. It was great to play a small part in such an important event, I'm delighted that we were able to give the audience the show they deserved."

"We are proud to be the first rental company in southern Africa to invest in COSMO," added David Mwale, owner of Divine Concert Sound. "We have always been fans of the premium sound and German build-quality that you get from HK Audio loudspeakers, and this latest investment just builds on that. Doek & Slay is a popular event that attracts a big crowd. It was important for us to deliver the kind of sound that reflects the scale of the show and COSMO ensured that we could do that. I'm delighted with how it went and I can't wait to see the rig out on more events in the future."
