Frequency Powers Majority Of U.S. Local FAST News Channels

Frequency has emerged as a key platform for U.S. broadcasters expanding local news distribution into Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST).

The company now supports more than 160 local news channels across major designated market areas, reaching nearly 60% of U.S. TV households. In total, Frequency delivers a unified local news streaming footprint of more than 70 million households nationwide.
Frequency operates one of the industry’s largest live local news streaming infrastructures, handling tens of thousands of live broadcasts annually. The company expects to power more than 100,000 live events in 2026, including daily newscasts and breaking news coverage.

"Live content is becoming a cornerstone of FAST, as broadcasters expand their reach to streaming audiences while complementing their traditional broadcast operations," said Jon Cohen, Chief Revenue Officer. "Frequency delivers the broadcast-grade platform required to operate live local news at scale — supporting real-time coverage, expanded distribution, and incremental revenue across ad-supported platforms."

The platform enables broadcasters to both originate dedicated streaming channels and repurpose existing broadcast feeds in real time, providing flexibility as they transition to streaming. Its cloud-native architecture allows station groups to scale operations while maintaining control and reliability for local news production.

At the NAB Show 2026, Frequency will demonstrate its Frequency Studio platform, which includes tools for automated 24/7 scheduling, automated segment capture and reuse, and scalable infrastructure designed to support continuous live broadcasting.
