Matthews Unveils Lightweight Aluminium Grid Clamp Range

Matthews has introduced its first range of aluminium grid clamps, designed to meet the rigging demands of film, television and live production.

The new models aim to deliver reduced weight alongside Matthews' recognised toughness, helping crews work faster and streamline logistics without sacrificing performance.

The line-up comprises the 3/8"-16 Aluminum Grid Clamp, the Right Angle Aluminum Grid Clamp, a Swivel Aluminum Grid Clamp and the Baby Pin Aluminum Grid Clamp.

Built from black anodised aluminium, the clamps are intended for both touring productions and permanent installations, offering professional-grade strength. Each features wingnut mounting for quick, secure attachment and fits pipes with outer diameters ranging from 1.5" (32mm) to 2" (50mm). For added assurance, all Matthews Aluminum Grid Clamps are CE Certified and TÜV certified, and they are compatible with the Patriot Wrench.

The 3/8"-16 Aluminum Grid Clamp is suited to hanging par cans and similar fixtures. It weighs 1.08 lb / 0.49 kg, supports 660 lb / 300 kg and measures 3.71" x 1.2" x 4.82" (9.4 x 3.0 x 12.2 cm).

The Right Angle Aluminum Grid Clamp connects two pipes at 90 degrees for grid and structure building. It offers a safe working load of 1,100 lb / 500 kg and measures 3.71" x 3.71" x 8.03" (9.4 x 9.4 x 20.4 cm).

The Swivel Aluminum Grid Clamp weighs 2.09 lb / 0.95 kg and adjusts to varied angles in pipe grid configurations while supporting 1,100 lb / 500 kg. Its dimensions are 3.71" x 2" x 8.04" (9.4 x 5.1 x 20.4 cm).

The Baby Pin Aluminum Grid Clamp is built for repeated daily use. It incorporates a 5/8" solid steel Baby Pin tapped with industry-standard 1/4"-20 female threads. The clamp measures 3.17" x 1.2" x 7.21" (8.1 x 3.0 x 18.3 cm) and the combined weight is 1.38 lb / 0.63 kg.
