DPA Microphones Launches Upgraded 4097 Micro Shotgun

DPA Microphones has unveiled an upgraded version of its 4097 Micro Shotgun microphone, introducing new CORE+ technology designed to enhance clarity and reduce distortion across a wide range of professional audio applications.

Announced on March 19, 2026, in Kokkedal, Denmark, the 4097 CORE+ Micro Shotgun delivers improved headroom and sonic transparency for use in speech, choir, film and broadcast environments. The new model will be showcased at NAB 2026.

The integration of CORE+ technology aims to significantly reduce distortion throughout the microphone’s dynamic range. According to the company, this ensures clear and intelligible sound capture, even in challenging acoustic conditions.

Designed for conferences, houses of worship, and media production, the updated microphone builds on the established performance of the original 4097 while incorporating DPA’s latest innovation. The patent-pending CORE+ technology addresses non-linearities typically caused by microphone membranes and electronic components, resulting in a more natural, distortion-free sound—particularly important for spoken word applications.
