Bauer Media Unveils 24/7 Portugal Support Hub

Bauer Media Group has announced a major upgrade to its European audio technology operations with a new Portugal-based Digital Services Technology Support Team, aimed at improving reliability and performance across its digital audio services.

The initiative is intended to reinforce Bauer Media’s capacity to deliver dependable, high-quality digital products while advancing its strategy to consolidate and scale audio platforms throughout Europe.

The move follows the 19 January debut in Portugal of Rayo, Bauer Media’s online, on-demand audio brand for listeners and commercial partners. The new team will underpin the continued rollout and day-to-day performance of Rayo and other digital audio offerings across the continent.

Operating around the clock, the Portugal team will provide first-line support, monitoring, alerting and escalation for Bauer Media's expanding portfolio of digital products and platforms. By detecting and resolving issues swiftly, it aims to maximise uptime, reinforce platform stability, and enhance the overall listener and user journey — with fewer disruptions, smoother streaming and more reliable access to content wherever audiences tune in. Advertisers are expected to see steadier campaign delivery, improved measurement continuity and trusted environments for their activity.

The Portugal hub will collaborate closely with Bauer Media teams in the UK, Ireland, the Nordics, and Central and Eastern Europe.

"This new team represents an important step in strengthening our European digital operations," said Salvador Ribeiro, CEO, Bauer Media Audio Portugal. "By investing in Portugal, we are building additional capability and making sure our listeners, customers, and partners enjoy the highest standard of service as our digital footprint continues to grow."

David Andrade, Chief Technology Officer, Bauer Media Audio said: "While the team's initial focus is on digital platforms and products, this investment is designed to create longer-term benefits for Bauer Media Group's broadcast services, as well as strengthening the resilience of the wider audio ecosystem that listeners and advertisers rely on every day and in every market."

Recruitment is already under way, beginning with the appointment of a team head and followed by additional technical and support hires. Based in Portugal and serving Bauer Media Group operations across Europe, the organisation is designed as a scalable support model to underpin future digital growth.
