DPA Microphones Helps Ewing Covenant Church Modernise Audio

Ewing Covenant Church has upgraded its audio and livestream capabilities as it returns to its historic "1867 Sanctuary" building for weekly worship, addressing the acoustic challenges of the landmark space with a modern sound system centred around DPA Microphones.

The congregation, originally founded in the 18th century as the First Presbyterian Church of Ewing, recently moved back into its original sanctuary after leasing the building to a local historical trust, which primarily used the venue for performances.

As the church resumes services in the building, leaders identified the need for a comprehensive audio upgrade to support worship and livestreaming. To deliver the new system, the church partnered with audio consultant and systems integrator Robert Bullington of Front Row Seat Productions.

Under the leadership of Morgan King, the congregation has seen renewed growth and engagement, becoming more multi-generational and placing greater emphasis on enhancing the worship experience.

"The building is stunning, but it's also an acoustical challenge," said Bullington. "They wanted to capture everything that makes their services special—the choir, pipe organ and congregational singing—while ensuring speech clarity and a natural-sounding livestream. It all needed to work together seamlessly in a room that was never designed for modern sound reinforcement."
