Stage Audio Works Integrates Audio System At The Namibia Padel Club

Stage Audio Works (SAW) Namibia recently completed the integration of a professional audio system at the newly launched Namibia Padel Club in Swakopmund, situated on the picturesque Platz-am-Meer promenade.

The audio upgrade, commissioned ahead of the club's December 2024 opening, supports both ambient music playback and voice announcements across two courts and is tailored to meet the specific needs of the venue, from casual play to tournaments.

Namibia Padel, the pioneering brand behind the growing popularity of padel in the country, launched the Swakopmund club as its second location following its successful debut in Windhoek earlier in 2024. With further expansion plans in place, including additional courts in Swakopmund, the club required a scalable, weather-resistant and reliable sound system.

SAW designed and supplied a reliable audio solution that would provide high-quality background music and clear voice announcements during gameplay, whilst avoiding excessive noise pollution from disturbing nearby businesses. "The client wanted the capability to play music on the padel courts whilst maintaining peace for the surrounding commercial units," explained Emcé Smit, technical manager at SAW Namibia. "There was also a requirement for a solution that can be scaled easily, as additional padel courts are planned."

SAW specified and supplied a system built around Audac's robust, outdoor-rated loudspeaker range, which is salt-tested and engineered for durability in harsh coastal environments, making it an ideal choice for the Namibian coast. Eight Audac Ateo series surface-mount loudspeakers in models Ateo4M and Ateo6M were installed across two courts, powered by a combination of 100V public address and dual-channel amplifiers, also from Audac, offering flexible zone-based control. "Running a 100V loudspeaker system allows us to install longer cable runs with minimal signal degradation," said Smit. "This is especially beneficial in an open-air environment, such as the padel club."

A six-channel stereo preamplifier and paging microphone provide operational flexibility between music playback and announcements. A general, open-play area adjacent to the courts was configured as a separate zone, allowing for independent volume control.

Despite tight deadlines and the delayed arrival of court building materials from Europe, the audio system was delivered in time for the December opening.
"The harsh Namibian coastal climate is unforgiving on outdoor installations, and the December period was a critical window for our client to capitalise on peak season activity," recalled Smit. "We are proud to have delivered a reliable, user-friendly solution under time pressure."

The integration marks a milestone in the collaboration between Stage Audio Works and Namibia Padel. As Namibia Padel plans to expand to new locations such as Walvis Bay and Luderitz, the current audio setup has established a reliable technology standard that can be replicated across future sites.
