Martin Audio FlexPoint Proves Ideal For Windmark Beach Church

Windmark Beach Church in Port St. Joe, Florida—an extension of Hiland Park Baptist Church in nearby Panama City—has moved from a portable "church in a box" to a purpose-built home at WindMark Village Center.

To support its contemporary services, the venue has been fitted with a comprehensive Martin Audio sound system designed, supplied and installed by S&L Integration.

The room presented significant acoustic and architectural constraints, including a low ceiling, columns within the seating area and tight sightlines. These factors pushed the team towards a compact, powerful point-source solution rather than line arrays.

Reece Antley, Technical Director at Windmark Beach Church, said: "My biggest concern was during the design phase. With the space we had - lower ceilings, an odd-shaped sanctuary with columns in the middle - I was worried about how it was going to work and how it was going to sound when we finished."

Gage Helton, Director of Operations at S&L Integration, added: "The ceiling was a little lower than we would have liked! But this just meant we couldn’t install large boxes, instead requiring speakers that could tuck up high to keep sightlines in check."

S&L Integration specified Martin Audio's FlexPoint Series for its premium point-source performance in a discreet footprint, using Martin Audio’s DISPLAY3 3D prediction software to model the space. The design targeted a maximum average SPL of up to 100 dBA with coverage consistency of +/- 2.5 dB across the seating area.

The installed system features a left/right pair of FlexPoint FP12 loudspeakers at the front, with an additional pair of FP12s set mid-room as delays. Low frequencies are handled by two flown SXC215 cardioid subwoofers in an end-fire configuration, focusing energy downwards for even bass distribution and minimising spill onto the platform.

"The FlexPoint FP12 was a perfect fit for the space, both in terms of size and performance," confirmed Helton.

Church leaders have praised both the audio results and the collaborative approach throughout the project's lifecycle.
