Martin Audio System Powers Renovated Moon Social Club
A major renovation of a popular nightlife venue in western France has been completed with the installation of a new high-performance sound system designed to elevate the clubbing experience.
Located in the Nantes commune of Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, the former Papa Tango Club has been rebranded by owners Evoe Group as Moon Social Club following a significant refurbishment and expansion designed to increase its capacity and modernise the space.
As part of the upgrade, a new Martin Audio WPS line array system has been installed by technology specialists Make It Event, long-standing partners of the British loudspeaker manufacturer. The company has worked with the operators since 2018 and now manages around 15 venues within the Evoe Group portfolio.
Although the client has used Martin Audio systems in several of its venues, the unique constraints of the new space prompted the team to evaluate several different sound solutions before making a final decision.
Make It Event organised a series of on-site proof-of-concept tests featuring systems from competing manufacturers. Ultimately, the Martin Audio solution was selected following collaboration between Make It Event and French distributor Algam Enterprise, who together were able to deliver the required performance at the right cost.
"Make It are also excellent ambassadors of the Martin Audio brand," confirmed Algam's Alexandre Porte.
The sound system design was led by Benjamin Verneuil, Head of Integration at Make It Event. Using Martin Audio's DISPLAY prediction software, Verneuil specified eight WPS elements, flown in arrays of four on either side of the stage.
The system is powered in two-box resolution by Dante-enabled Martin Audio iK42 and iK81 multichannel amplifiers, enabling accurate sound distribution and tightly controlled audio coverage across the venue.
Additional reinforcement includes a pair of CDD8 speakers used as sidefills to enhance clarity and high-frequency coverage at the centre of the stage. Four CDD12 ceiling-mounted delay speakers provide further coverage, with an additional pair positioned on the sides to widen the sound field.
Low-frequency output is handled by four SXH218 subwoofers arranged in a sub-arc beneath the stage. The configuration was selected both for practical reasons and to maintain overall acoustic coherence in a space where traditional subwoofer stacking was not possible.
The main stage represents only one of five distinct sound zones throughout the venue, all equipped with Martin Audio systems.
A secondary club room features a compact W8LM setup with three elements per side and a WMX subwoofer on each side. Two VIP rooms are fitted with three wall-mounted CDD5 speakers each, while the entrance area uses four ACS-55TS compact ceiling speakers to provide discreet background audio.
Outside, a dedicated terrace area is served by four AQ8 loudspeakers and an SX215 subwoofer.
The installation was designed to meet Evoe Group's ambition of creating a contemporary nightclub capable of attracting a younger audience while delivering powerful, high-quality audio throughout the venue.
"We wanted an installation capable of delivering high sound pressure levels while maintaining excellent sound quality. A line array system was therefore the natural choice, offering both power and consistency. This setup ensures optimal audio coverage throughout the entire club, with a full and impactful sound, not only on the dancefloor but also in all other areas.
"The generous ceiling height made it possible to install this type of system, complemented by double 18-inch subwoofers to deliver deep, powerful bass," he concluded.
