Thai Government Radio Upgrades FM Broadcast Quality
The Public Relations Department of Thai Government Radio (PRD) has completed a major upgrade to its broadcasting infrastructure with the installation of Orban OPTIMOD 5950 Digital Audio Processors across six radio transmission sites.
The upgrade covers A.S. Radio (King Palace, Bangkok), PRD Chonburi, PRD Phang Nga, PRD Yasothon, PRD Lampang and PRD Nakhon Si Thammarat, significantly enhancing the quality and consistency of FM broadcasts nationwide.
With the deployment of the latest-generation Orban FM audio processing technology, the stations now benefit from improved loudness, clarity and on-air consistency, while remaining fully compliant with broadcasting standards. The OPTIMOD 5950 is widely recognised internationally as a benchmark in FM processing, combining intelligent loudness control with transparent sound quality and high signal stability.
The multi-band processing units also provide greater operational resilience, ensuring uniform performance across each station’s transmission chain.
"ORBAN has long been the gold standard in audio broadcasting processing. The deployment of the OPTIMOD 5950 at these radio stations reflects the broadcasters commitment to sound excellence, reliability, and future-ready technology," said Mike Pappas, Orban Senior Vice President of Global Sales. "Together with JAA.S, we are proud to support broadcasters who prioritise audio quality as a core part of their brand and audience experience."
Mr. Pairoj Veeranondh, CEO of Broadcast and Studio Co., Ltd., highlighted the system's performance and reliability. "The OPTIMOD 5950 delivers a powerful yet clean FM sound with excellent consistency and control," he said. "It is a highly reliable processor that gives broadcasters confidence in maintaining premium audio quality, especially for high-power FM operations like A.S. Radio Station (King Palace Radio Station) and other PRD stations."
Mr. David Chan, CEO of JAA Systems (JAA.S), said the project underscores the role of advanced audio processing in strengthening a broadcaster's identity. "This project demonstrates how the right audio processing technology can significantly elevate the on-air identity of a broadcaster. The Orban brand audio processor, proven audio quality and reliability since over 50 years, delivers consistent loudness, exceptional clarity, and transparent multi-band FM processing, while offering the reliability and control required for high-power broadcasting operations."
