Leitch supply equipment to Pixcom International for Olympics

Leitch has announced that Pixcom International, a Montreal-based company providing technical services to France Television for coverage of the 2004 Olympic Summer Games, has chosen Leitch to supply key components for this major international project.
Leitch is supplying Pixcom with a wide range of products on a rental basis, including 6800+ modular interface products, Panacea compact multi-format routing switchers and Integrator Gold wideband digital multi-rate routers.
"We have a long history with Leitch, having worked with the company on all our major projects in the past," said Gabriel Trempe, manager of Pixcom International's technologies department. "We selected Leitch to provide key components for use during the 2004 Athens Games because the company's products fulfilled all our requirements in terms of functionality and are also robust enough to withstand the rigors of this demanding project."
Trempe continued, "We are especially pleased with Leitch's Integrator router - in particular the router's exceptional control software, which makes system configuration simple and has always provided us with flexible and powerful control capability."
Housed in an 8RU frame, Leitch's Integrator Gold router easily scales from 8x8 to 128x128, offers unparalleled control capability, and provides a clear growth path from lower bit rate AES, SDI and ASI to high-bandwidth, high-definition format signals. Panacea is an industry-leading, compact router that offers on-air quality in every format from analogue to HD, the largest selection of matrix sizes, and an array of options that allows customers to adapt this exceptionally affordable router to meet their specific needs. Building on the legacy of the world-leading 6800 line, the 6800+ modular interface platform features increased module capacity up to 20 cards in 2RU, the ability to mix and match signal formats and functionality (including fibre) within the same frame, and free serial and card-edge configuration and control.
"Pixcom has provided technical services for numerous prestigious, international events in the past, and we are pleased that they continue to demonstrate confidence in our company by consistently choosing Leitch solutions for their most challenging projects," said Tim Thorsteinson, president and CEO of Leitch Technology.
