Indigenous Northern Irish film set for general release

‘Freeze Frame’, the first feature film from Northern Ireland born duo Michael Casey (producer) and John Simpson (director), goes on general release on Friday June 18.
Co-funded by the NIFTC and shot entirely on location in Belfast’s disused Crumlin Road jail, this unique, edgy psychological thriller stars British comedian Lee Evans in a truly unexpected role.
Evans plays Sean Veil, an ultra-paranoid murder suspect who videotapes himself around the clock so that he’ll have a rock-solid alibi if he’s ever accused of another crime. But the one tape that could prove his innocence of a new murder mysteriously disappears and he's forced to go on the run to fabricate the evidence of the missing hours.
Colin Anderson, NIFTC Chairman, said: “This film marks a fantastic beginning. It is great to see Northern Irish talent getting the opportunity to make this exciting feature film. The NIFTC is delighted to be associated with this original and striking production, which is receiving rave reviews, and looks forward to supporting more truly indigenous productions in the future. Films such as this bring a lot to Northern Ireland and go a long way to demonstrate the talent we have here.”
The film, which is Distributed by Eclipse Pictures in Ireland and Verve in the UK, is financed by the NIFTC, the Irish Film Board and Universal Pictures, and is co-produced by Parallel World Productions /Wild Fire Films.
‘In Safe Hands’, produced by Derry-based Raw Nerve Productions will be screened prior to the film.
