‘The Mighty Celt’ begins filming in Northern Ireland

Principal photography has begun in and around Belfast on ‘The Mighty Celt’, a story about a 14-year-old boy who adopts an awkward greyhound his boss has no time for, and trains it to become a championship contender.
The Mighty Celt features newcomer Tyrone McKenna as teenager Donal and stars award-winning actors Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting, The Full Monty, Angela’s Ashes, The World Is Not Enough, Cracker,) as ‘O’, an old family friend who has returned home after 15 years away, and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The House of Mirth) as Donal’s mother, Kate.
The Mighty Celt is a BBC Films presentation, in association with the Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission, of a Treasure Entertainment Production. Worldwide sales will be handled by The Works.
The film is written and directed by Pearse Elliott (Treasure Films’ Mad about Dog, Pulling Moves, A Rap At The Door) and produced by Robert Walpole, Paddy McDonald, and Paddy Breathnach. The Director of Photography is Seamus Deasy.
