BBC Technology to provide consulting services to new Caribbean broadcast network

BBC Technology has been selected to deliver a five-year business plan to the New National Broadcast Network of Trinidad and Tobago (New NBN).
The National Broadcast Network is being reformed to respond better to changing local market conditions and to help deliver more efficient and innovative programming and services.
The project, commencing March 2004, will see BBC Technology assess New NBN's key markets, review its business priorities and provide a range of strategic recommendations to New NBN stakeholders.
New NBN will manage and run Trinidad and Tobago Television and three radio stations in the region. Due to the increasingly competitive landscape - there are currently 21 radio stations available to the overall population, and competing television broadcaster Caribbean Communications Network (CCN) - BBC Technology will focus on providing a five-year business plan that will deliver innovative strategic recommendations to support and extend New NBN's competitive advantage and to enable it to deliver sustainable operations from the outset.
BBC Technology's consultants will deliver strategic recommendations on how New NBN can reposition itself in the broadcast marketplace and run a financially viable and more efficient operation. The project will address a wide range of New NBN's business functions, including content production, editorial activities, content acquisition, distribution, sales operations, archiving, new media, operations, organisation design and broadcast infrastructure. It will also consider the underpinning processes, people and technology required to drive the business plan.
Dominic Beaubrun, Acting Chief Executive Office for New NBN, commented: "Broadcast competition in the Caribbean region has intensified within the last few years. To this end we are developing a strategic plan which will allow us to be as innovative and competitive as possible in order to make New NBN a successful venture from the start. BBC Technology has the skills and proven broadcast sector expertise to provide us with a forward looking plan that will meet these needs for the next five years."
Phil Fearnley, Commercial Director at BBC Technology said: "We have delivered consulting services in a wide range of projects for both commercial and public broadcasters, governments and platform operators, across the globe. The depth of expertise that our team has will help New NBN achieve competitive advantage within their market. We will deliver a plan to New NBN that will map out how they can take advantage in this changing market, and how they can benefit from organisational efficiencies and effectiveness through technology."
