SBS install pair of SSL C100 Digital Consoles
Oxford-based Solid State Logic has supplied independent TV and radio broadcaster SBS (Seoul Broadcasting Systems) with a pair of SSL C100 digital broadcast consoles for two new studios.
The identical C100 consoles have been installed in the AM and FM Master Control Room, situated next to each other at SBS’s new facility in the Korean capital. Both Master Control Rooms have access to two recording booths. One is intended for presentations, announcements and chat shows, while the other is a DJ booth with a small, self-operated mixer.
The decision to buy C100 desks was taken after representatives from SBS saw the console on display at the NAB convention in Las Vegas last year.
An in-depth demonstration at the SBS studios was organized by SSL’s Korean distributor HanSeo International and was quickly followed by an order for two consoles.
The C100s are used to create the final mix for 'live to air' radio, which is broadcast 22 hours a day. Inputs to the C100 are routed from CDs, presenter mics, mics from the booths and inputs from the SBS designed AudioFile hard disk storage system. The C100 can also be used to control additional inputs if the DJ/presenter is unable to control the 'self-operated' mixer.
