Cambridge Electronic Industries Unveils New Product

News Image
Cambridge Electronic Industries has announced the first product of a brand new SMT design – a 12GHz right angled BNC connector that can be placed directly onto a PCB in rapid assembly and volume production.

As bandwidths increase to carry 4K, Quad HD and Ultra HD video, so does the demand for coaxial connectors that are optimised to deliver a 12GHz channel in one single connection. These latest coaxial connectors are designed with great precision and low loss, for broadcast and high speed video applications where there is a very high throughput of data.

Cambridge Electronic Industries' new BNC connector (part number C-SX-174), is a right angled surface mount connector, patent pending, suitable for the automated placement techniques used in high volume manufacturing. Its design has evolved from the company's 12G-SDI connector C-SX-165, which requires a more traditional manufacturing process.

Peter Fayers, Technical Director, Cambridge Electronic Industries, said: "The design of the C-SX-174 connectors allows them to be placed as close as possible to, and in the same place as the EQ/driver chip, which helps to prevent signal loss from the contacts in the bottom layers of the board. The connector can be positioned and inserted directly onto the board and then locked to keep it in place, which makes it perfect for rapid assembly."

The company also manufactures 12G-SDI connectors and assemblies for Belden 4855R, Belden 4505R, Belden 4731R, Belden 4794R, Belden 4694R HDTV video cables, and Igus CF Koax1 flexible cables.

Cambridge Electronics Industries will exhibit at ISE 2018, Stand 15-G228.
