Fibre4TV: Broadcast Fibre Cable Specialist

News Image
Since the introduction of high definition television, the use of fibre optics in HDTV productions has become a necessity to overcome the losses of copper cable over distance.

This was particularly true in television outside broadcast where camera and commentary positions can be located kilometres away from the OB van.

Over the past 10 years, the cost of fibre optic links has reduced whilst the number of manufacturers has increased, giving users choice in cost and facilities.

However the fibre link is only as good as the cable which connects it.

Users can have a poor experience if their choice of fibre cable and connector is not suitable for their application.

Fibre4TV has a wealth of experience in both fibre optic and broadcast technologies, ensuring their customers receive the best advice on cable and connector to meet their budget.

Our in-house termination facility manufactures field deployable cables with a range of connectors including Neutrik OpticalCON, Lemo 3K.93C and lower cost alternatives including our new IP-LC.

We also make custom cables; for example, to convert from Neutrik to Lemo or Neutrik to LC/ST or LC.

Whatever connector is employed they all require regular maintenance and no field connection should be made without cleaning both mating ends.

For this first line service we supply custom cleaning kits which are compact and easy to use.

Fibre4TV also undertakes on site installations of broadcast fibre cable connections.

Typically, sports or entertainment venues require a mix of facilities including camera cable and fibre tie lines from wall boxes to the central apparatus room or OB termination panel.

Our more noted installations include fibre infrastructure for Glastonbury, camera positions at Manchester City's new training ground and broadcast news facilities in central London.

As a sister company to fibre kit supply and hire company Mi Broadcast, customers can hire additional reels of tactical cable or fibre links for video, audio and data to cover productions both big and small.

Meet us at stand D01 at BVE 28th February – 2nd March 2017.
