Anton/Bauer Powers Another Industry First

CINE batteries power industry's first VR footage from the top of Mount Everest.

You might not have to risk your life to experience the journey to Mount Everest's summit thanks to Amsterdam-based production company VR Explorers, the first-ever production team to capture virtual reality footage from the mountain's peak at roughly 8,848 meters.

"Other VR companies had tried and failed before," explained Przemek Siemion, Dutch filmmaker of VR Explorers. "Luckily, our production company had experience from a previous film so we knew what the climb would look like and what the conditions would be."

Knowing previous expeditions with larger cameras were unsuccessful, they put together a lightweight, innovative kit composed of GoPros, monopods, Litepanels LED lights, computers, and cards – plus, Anton/Bauer CINE 90 batteries and Performance Quad Charger.

"In those harsh conditions, mobile power is a challenge. Anton/Bauer's CINE batteries were the only ones that worked and really saved us. Without working batteries, we wouldn't have been able to do anything," said Siemion.

Siemion found that the CINE batteries were robust enough to charge all of his gear, including the GoPros, audio equipment, and even his iPhone.

"We brought the batteries we used on our last trek and they couldn't even charge off of the solar-powered generators. So we charged everything from the Anton/Bauer batteries. On our way back, we still had 8% of battery power left. Other batteries just don't perform like that."
