Sony Expands Hard Drive Range To Include Professional Raid

News Image
Sony have recently announced the introduction of their new Professional HDD Raid line up, (PSZ-RA4T & PSZ-RA6T), the two new Raid Drives come in configurations of 4TB and 6TB with Raid / Raid 1 and JBOD.

Designed for on location shoots and rapid studio editing, the new drives allow users to store large amounts of data quickly at up to 440 MB per second. Workflow efficiency is optimised with a choice of USB 3.0 or twin Thunderbolt interfaces. The Thunderbolt standard has a maximum throughput of 20 GBPs. Ideal for simultaneously streaming 4K video while writing to disc or browsing huge RAW photo libraries without lag.

The new drives come with complete professional support including a three-year warranty. Unique to Sony is their data recovery service that strives to recover lost or damaged content using cutting edge facilities and techniques in Sony's own Technical Centre. Included in the package is Media Management Utility Software (MMU), which allows users to view SxS Card information such as health of the card, available space on devices and remaining record time. (MMU) also enables back up to three different devices simultaneously, users can also benefit from their own SxS Card library which recognises named media, evaluates rewriting lifecycle of SxS cards and finally the latest backup date or backup location for each named card.

Chris Couzens who heads up Sales & Marketing for Sony Recording Media in the UK, said: "As you would expect from Sony these drives are built to the very highest specification. Each drive is designed to be extremely robust but also very portable with every drive underpinned with one of the longest warranties in the market (3 years). Sony's Professional Raid Drive's also benefit from our unique data recovery service and some must-have add-on features for SxS users thanks to the (MMU) software."
