TMD Demo New Approach To Workflow And Multi-Platform

TMD, the leading provider of asset management systems for digital and physical assets, will use IBC 2013 to focus on the way that its Mediaflex platform offers a new, hands-on approach to developing workflows, not least to support the rapidly evolving multi-platform distribution environment in which content has to be prepared in a number of formats, resolutions and wrappers.
Previously the realm of only the largest enterprises, Mediaflex CI – for content intelligence – provides the ability to design workflows and use business analytics to derive valuable information. More than just automating processes, the use of analytics means that the system itself can make intelligent decisions based on business rules developed by the organisation, delivering huge productivity benefits.
Mediaflex CI is at the heart of FAST, the enterprise-wide file-based infrastructure now implemented at Irish national broadcaster RTÉ, and is ready to transform service-oriented broadcast architectures worldwide. FAST and the TMD asset management and workflow engine is a finalist for the coveted IBC2013 Innovation Award.
The same intelligent decision-making makes Mediaflex CI a particularly powerful workflow engine in multi-platform delivery. Rules can be established which drive content through transcoding and transwrapping farms to automatically generate content which is quality assured and with the right metadata in the right places. Only by harnessing real productivity efficiencies through flexible automated workflows can broadcasters and content owners achieve the commercial targets necessary for multi-platform success.
Emphasising the need to make broadcast and post production asset management and workflows more flexible, TMD will also be demonstrating the latest additions to its cloud-enabled i-mediaflex application environment. Creative services teams can manage the entire process from wish lists and make lists through content search, browse, selection, editing, review, approvals and distribution. With i-mediaflex, producers can view, comment and approve content through apps for smartphones and tablets.
TMD has a strong reputation in audiovisual archives for public and government bodies as well as broadcasters, and at IBC 2013 will be demonstrating the latest additions to its Mediaflex Collections module. This includes the ability to import and manage bulk data for large ingests, together with tracking and reporting on the acquisitions and accession process.
"TMD is the choice of some of the biggest broadcasters and archives around the world, which means we have developed a huge level of detailed experience about what is required in the real world" said Tony Taylor, chairman and CEO of TMD. "Drawing on this in-depth knowledge, it is very clear that what the industry needs is a simple yet powerful approach to file-based architectures, with a flexible metadata schema and the ability to create workflows fast. We see our Mediaflex CI approach to be far ahead of anything else yet on the market."
The complete TMD Mediaflex platform can be seen on stand 2.C58 at IBC 2013.
