Sony builds on European success at Munich AES

Sony celebrated a successful year in the professional audio sector during the European AES Exhibition held in Munich, Germany on May 10-13.
Visitors to the Sony stand (2EO6) at the event will discovered several new additions to the extensive range of Sony pro-audio products.
In particular, this year's AES exhibition saw the launch of the latest developments to the award winning Sony DMX-R100 platform. Already an established product in a line-up of applications, from theatre sound mixing to live TV production, these new developments are set to extend the systems abilities. In addition, Sony launched the latest technology for expanding audio interfacing including the DMBK-R109 MADI-Card as well as prototypes for future options.
Product Manager for Sony Broadcast & Professional Europe, Andrew Hingley said: "At Sony, we predict that MADI (Multichannel Audio Digital Interface) is going to become an important issue for studios involved with high sampling and surround sound projects. MADI has a unique ability to deliver over long distances, multiple channels of sample accurate digital audio in a single, low cost cable. Recent developments from a number of manufacturers mean that MADI is now great value for money."
2001 has been a successful year for Sony professional audio business, with a dramatic growth in wireless microphone applications, such as the Lavalier microphone, and AV Installation products, such as the SRP-X700P, both of which were launched at the show.
The European AES Exhibition is the premier event in Europe for Sony for meeting and discussing the latest developments in the audio product line up - with experts who are involved with professionally producing audio projects.
Sony wireless microphone systems launched at the show included the MB-8N receiver rack, the WRU-8N receiver module and the WRT-8B belt pack transmitter. Sony provided on-stand access to www.sonybiz.net allowing visitors to surf through the vast range of other Sony Broadcast & Professional products.
