Total Audio showcase new Sony units

As part of the expansion of the DMX-R100 platform announced at AES Munich, Total Audio Solutions are to host the UK launch of the Sony SIU-100 remotely controlled stage box/multipoint matrix at SBES 2002.
The device accepts up to eight standard DMX-R100 option cards, handling formats such as AES and MADI, as well as a new addition to the family - the DMSK-R101 eight-channel microphone pre-amp card. Control is either from the DMX-R100 and optional SIU-RM101 interface panel over RS422, or via Ethernet connected PC. Applications are to be found both in live performance as a remote stage box and studio complexes, where the combination of top-quality format conversion and 128 x 128 matrix will be appreciated by engineers seeking simplicity and cost-effective pricing.
Also on display on the Total Audio stand, number 70, will be the recently introduced WRT-8B beltpack transmitter and MB-8N remotely controlled broadcast quality rack, which includes a DC powering capability and PC network remote control. New at the show will be Version 2.0 of the MB-8N PC control software with valuable enhancements such as spectrum analysis and improved diagnostics tools.
SBES sees the UK launch of several more major products for Sony, such as the ECM-88 Lavalier Microphone.
The unique dual diaphragm design of this new unit gives it a remarkably high resistance to handling noise, and also leaves it completely waterproof. Measuring a miniscule 3.5mm in diameter, and weighing a mere 3.5g, the ECM-88 is aimed primarily at broadcast and corporate A/V applications. Initial response to the product has been encouraging, with large orders expected to outstrip initial European supplies. Total Audio Solutions have the first UK stocks of ECM-88, which, according to MD and sound recordist Peter Knowles, “quite simply sounds amazing”.
