Broadcast RF Cameras Cover Brazil's X Games

Broadcast RF supplied three wireless camera systems for the ESPN coverage of the recent X Games in Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil, including the new Sony HDC-P1 steadicam wireless camera system.
The other two radio cameras supplied were mounted on Thomson LDK8000s and both had return vision built into the lightweight LDK camera backs.
All systems were able to operate anywhere within the X Games competition grounds and worked into two distinct OB flypacks supplied by NEP Visions. Receive sites were located at the Big Air, Rally, Moto X and on the race park control tower, allowing coverage of the wireless cameras.
A team of three engineers ensured the wireless operation was installed and operated for the duration of just under two weeks that they were required on site.
The competition was first held under the name of ‘Extreme Games’ in 1995, and has grown dramatically since. Originally held in Los Angeles, Aspen and Tignes, it was announced in May 2012 that the X Games host cities would grow by three in 2013.
Of nine finalists, the three new cities were chosen: Barcelona, Munich and Foz do Iguaçu.
The new additions to the X Games now means that annually, there are four summer events (Los Angeles, Barcelona, Munich and Foz do Iguaçu), and two winter events held (Aspen and Tignes).
Summer events include Moto, Inline Skating, Car Racing, Skateboarding and BMX, whereas Winter events include Skiing, Snowboarding and Snowmobile.
The X Games will take a short break, before the competition is invited to Barcelona for the third installment of the 2013 calendar.
