Elquip launch upgraded HD waveform monitor

Elquip BV, Europe’s key distributor for the ‘Leader Electronics’ range of test equipment, has announced the availability of a high definition multi-format digital waveform monitor.
Designed to meet the needs of programme originators and post-production companies mastering for the rapidly expanding HD market, the LV 5152DA provides precise and efficient measurement of 720p, 1080i and 1035i high definition serial digital interface signals (HD-SDI).
The LV 5152DA has dual SDI inputs conforming to BTA S-0048 standard plus an analogue YUV/GBR input. A wide range of analytical functions are incorporated, including a patented technique for indicating the level of incoming data as an equivalent coaxial cable length. A digital data dump function displays parallel digital video data as hexadecimal numerics, enabling rapid and repeatable signal analysis. Frequently used panel settings can be stored in 10 user-assignable memories.
Full vectorscope facilities are provided, conforming to SMPTE 240M and 274M specifications.
Up to 15 lines in each video field can be selected for continuous display. A timing display mode further allows accurate monitoring of time and amplitude offset between channels.
Elquip managing director Paul Vos said: "The international market for television programmes is migrating to high definition. This enables European producers to compete in the North American markets which have already embraced HD broadcasting.
“European adoption of an HD television format is on the horizon thanks to progress in HD consumer display screens and the impending introduction of HD-DVD. The Leader LV 5152DA provides all the analytical tools required for studio and mobile production applications. Its compact 215 x 132 x 429 mm (WHD) dimensions make it ideal for incorporation in outside broadcast vehicles."
Based in Eindhoven, elQuip ( www.elquip.com ) is the master distributor and European service centre for Leader Electronics Corporation. Founded in 1978, elQuip specialises in providing high quality equipment for broadcasters and electronic equipment manufacturers.
