Penpal-HD portable digital HD test signal generator launched

Following the success of Penpal-SDI, Electronic Visuals have successfully produced the high definition version.
Penpal-HD takes miniaturisation with high specifications to the next level. Full broadcast standard offering 32 test signals grouped in eight sets of four offering just about any alignment or checkout contingency a broadcast engineer might encounter.
Group I includes HD SMPTE bars as well as 100% bars & Red and 75% bars.
Group II includes a checkfield matrix (pathological, useful for stressing digital transmission systems), an Aspect-Ratio Check 4:3 and 16:9, and for testing frequency response Pulse and Bar. Group III gives you 5-step staircase, shallow ramp and limited ramp, useful for evaluating differential phase and gain. Group IV has Sweeps Y 30MHz, UV 15Mhz with markers and Mulibursts also for testing frequency response. Group V is for monitor alignment and includes PLUGE, Convergence and Tartan bars (used to test chroma sharpness and evaluate comb filter performance). Group VI and VII provide Full Field Black, White, R, Y, G, B, M, C.
Could this product have any more surprises? Yes, because Group VIII has moving patterns, with a Moving Zone Plate as well as moving vertical and diagonal bars.
The moving zone plate is especially useful for checking line or frame based comb decoders and scan converters performance.
If having easy, portable access to all these HD video test signals were not enough, Penpal-HD also includes a variety of audio signals embedded into the SMPTE 292M data stream that can be used for evaluating digital audio circuits and equipment.
Penpal-HD is capable of outputting four AES streams (eight audio channels).
The extensive test signals include, Audio signal I. 1kHz tone on Channel 1 only. Audio signal II. a steady 1kHz tone on Channel 1, steady 444Hz tone on Channel 2, a broken 1kHz tone on Channel 3, broken 444Hz tone on Channel 4. Audio signal III 1kHz tone on 4 stereo pairs - left Channels steady, right Channels broken.
The audio signals may be completely disabled for video only testing.
Now hold on to your hat, baseball cap, hood or hairpiece because the Penpal-HD will deliver all these test signals in any of 18 HD formats.
With 32 test signals in 18 HD formats and four pairs of embedded audio tones, in a battery or mains operated, Stainless Steel package that fits into your pocket, it would hard to imagine a troubleshooting task that the Penpal-HD couldn't handle.
