Grass Valley Presents Latest Production Innovations

At the Australian Broadcast Exhibition (August 7-9), at Sydney’s Manly Pacific Hotel in Manly NSW, Grass Valley™ will give attendees a hands-on look at its latest file-based technologies for live event production and pre-taped studio programs. The product portfolio on display includes the new Grass Valley (GV) STRATUS™ Media Workflow Application Framework with the K2 Summit™ 3G clients and K2 SAN, Karrera™ Video Production Center switcher, the K2 Dyno™ Replay System, and the renowned LDK 8000 Elite and cost-effective LDK 3000+ high-definition (HD) cameras.
The GV STRATUS platform is a new approach to broadcast production and delivery workflows. It recognises that a typical file-based environment will use hardware and software from multiple vendors, such as video editing systems or asset management systems. Based on a simple user-configurable GUI, GV STRATUS provides only the necessary and specific tools for the desired task, without any additional processes affecting equipment resources. With GV STRATUS, the user's task defines the tools.
The GV Karrera is a cost-effective HD switcher platform, with a great combination of features that makes sophisticated production capabilities readily available to more production types and more users. Karrera is a fully digital, 10-bit, 4:2:2 video switcher with up to 96 inputs and 48 outputs. It features HD/SD SDI signal support with (optional) up/down/cross converters on selected inputs and outputs, and six keyers in every full M/E—four full-function keyers plus two linear/luminance keyers. Each full-function keyer has two pages (frames) of video and key storage to free up Image Store outputs and reduce the number of external graphics sources.
The GV K2 Dyno Replay System consists of the K2 Dyno replay controller coupled with the either the K2 Summit™ media server or the K2 Solo™ portable server. It is designed to help sports producers and other professionals capture live events and instantly play them out at variable speeds for critical analysis during fast-paced events. It is ideally suited for HD sports production trucks and shared storage production facilities.
The LDK 8000 Elite series of cameras is the only camera available that can capture true progressive HD images natively, and switch instantly among multiple formats and frame rates. This includes 1080p origination and selectable frame rates up to 1080p60.
The GV LDK 3000+ is a cost-effective multi-format camera system that offers great picture quality and superb flexibility, supporting 1080i50/60 and 720p50/60. The LDK 3000+ has three 2/3-inch, 2.4 million pixels Xensium™ CMOS imagers specially developed for broadcast applications.
