Marquis’ Project Parking Scores For Input Media

Marquis Broadcast, specialist in content workflows and media integration software, has announced Input Media, one of Europe’s leading sports production companies, has selected Project Parking for a data migration project at its West London, state-of-the-art broadcast and production centre.
Input Media which produces programming for the likes of UEFA, The FA, The French Tennis Federation and the BBC, has used Marquis’ Project Parking archive and restore solution to migrate long-term content onto its new Unity ISIS system.
“We were looking for a practical solution to migrate key Avid project data,” explains Nick Symes, director of technology, Input Media. “Project Parking helped us to make an inventory of Avid projects and their assets, spanning across multiple workspaces on our existing ISIS system before the migration and identify which content needed to be moved across to the new system. The built in checksums were particularly useful to verify all the file copies were faithful to the originals. Project Parking and Restore supplied an intuitive interface, enabling a straightforward migration of the media from one physical system to another. We are now looking at how we can use Project Parking to assist with our on-going digital content management requirements for the forthcoming football season.”
Launched in January 2012, Project Parking offers a fast and cost effective archive and restore process by creating a complete copy of any Avid project onto any storage device. By providing a simple vehicle for archiving all media associated with a project, Project Parking enables Avid users to archive complete projects safely, quickly and easily between systems within the same facility or between sites. The portable nature of parked projects also makes them ideal for disaster recovery procedures, business continuity and inter-site workflows.
“Project Parking saves facilities time by eliminating the need to search for media across different workstations,” explains Chris Steele, product manager, Marquis Broadcast. “The solution takes an Avid project and collates a complete list of all the media that that project has used, whether in a timeline, or simply in a bin and then searches all the attached workspaces for that media. At the end of this analysis, Project Parking can tell you whether all the media is on line, or if not, the name of the workspace where it was last located. Project Parking then goes on to copy all the project files and all the media that it references to a new location, checking all the files (with MD5 checksums) to ensure they are faithful copies.
“Managing and keeping track of media within digital workflows is becoming a growing issue, particularly where large files sizes limit resources,” confirms Steele. “Project Parking provides a simple archive and restore process to help HD and 3D production facilities and post houses manage their media effectively, now allowing them to unlock some of the many advantages associated with digitalisation.”
