Netgem Presents Hybrid OTT Solutions At ANGA Cable 2012

Netgem, a leader in connected home technologies and solutions, announced today new customer wins and new innovative features for its hybrid OTT product range.
Beyond Viaplay's project announced separately, success continues for Netgem, as Zeop, a cable and fiber operator in La Réunion, a French overseas department in the Indian Ocean, has also partnered with Netgem to launch next generation TV services.
Martin VIGNEAU, CTO of Zeop, added: "As a HFC and FTTx operator, managing various technologies, we wanted a single solution responding to two needs: upgrading our existing HFC network and deploying Fibre to the Home. Netgem's solution was the perfect fit for these two needs. Moreover, it is cost effective and very quick to deploy. Netgem's technologies, through the use of adaptive streaming guarantee a great quality of service and we can now offer best in class TV experiences using OTT."
Zeop wanted to upgrade its cable offer in order to give greater value to its customers but did not wish to reinvest heavily in infrastructure. In parallel, the Reunicable's subsidiary deploys Fibre to the Home (FTTH) to provide very high speed Internet. Using Over The Top (OTT) delivery, Netgem's hybrid solution enables Zeop to extend its reach through HFC network and FTTH, and to offer new features, such as VoD, catch-up TV as well as media centre functionality to its subscribers. For this new service, Netgem will deliver its N5200 set-top boxes integrating the company's award-winning middleware. The service will go live in summer 2012.
At ANGA Cable, Netgem will explain how cable operators can leverage the OTT opportunities to, not only blend linear and non-linear services thanks to its hybrid solutions, but also extend their reach outside their traditional footprint with an unmatched quality of experience for the consumers.
The company will be showing a range of innovative demonstrations to illustrate the performance of its latest adaptive bitrate players, its capacity to blend linear and non linear services into fast and fluid user interface, and its new innovative applications capitalizing on its nCloud middleware platform (cloud gaming, social TV, video and music streaming, picture sharing...)
Christophe Aulnette, Netgem's CEO, said: "At ANGA Cable, we will show how Cable operators can embrace the OTT and multi-screen opportunities. Thanks to Netgem's hybrid OTT solutions, Cable operators can deploy quickly and cost effectively new advanced TV and multi-screen services, and therefore secure and extend their customer base in a fast moving competitive environment.
