Redundant MADI I/O – Just What the Broadcaster Ordered

Another two new products from German MADI developer and manufacturer DirectOut Technologies have been launched at Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt.
The ANDIAMO 2, developed to meet requests from broadcasters needing redundant MADI I/O, has two MADI ports and provides seamless switching between the MADI ports should one input fail. It is available with a choice of two optical multimode SC transceivers or, for added flexibility, one optical SC and one coaxial BNC connector.
Other units in the series are the ANDIAMO, an AD/DA MADI converter, ANDIAMO.XT, an analogue, MADI and AES converter and the ANDIAMO.XT SRC with added sample rate converters. For greater adaptability all the ANDIAMO units can be specified with maximum analogue I/O levels of +15dBu, +18dBu or +24dBu and all the optical devices delivered by DirectOut can be single mode if required.
The second new product is the EXBOX.ADAT, a MADI to ADAT converter with eight ADAT I/Os and two MADI ports. The EXBOX.ADAT is the ideal interface for example, for the studio that uses a MADI DAW or mixing desk and records onto a device with ADAT I/O. Or a studio whose AD/DA converters have ADAT I/Os but need to extend their audio channel capability with a MADI card in the recording computer.
Chris Collings from Aspen Media said: "DirectOut is a great range to distribute and these two new additions are no exception. DirectOut listens to its customers and develops products accordingly."
