New Products From Canford At BVE North

Canford's latest range of mains distribution units featuring sequential powering up and down will receive their UK launch at the show and have not been seen in the UK before. The newly launched CatKit range of CAT5E multicore cable assemblies and breakout (stage) boxes will also be on display. The latest rack mount and camera mount HD video monitors Ruige and a new range of Canford manufactured fibre optic termination panels will feature alongside the above. The new Tascam DR40 hand held recorder and the DR-680, Beachtek pro-interface for camcorders and a selection of the high end miniature microphones, headsets and ear pieces from Swiss manufacturer Voice Technologies will be on show as will Canford’s D’n’A dual purpose digital and analogue audio cables.
Canford's new series of mains power distribution units (MDUs) with the addition featuring both sequential power up and power down will get their UK launch. Versions will be available with power filtering and in a variety of inlet and outlet types based on IEC or Neutrik Powercon connectors. The addition of the new series takes Canford’s self manufactured range of mains powering units to well over 300 variations.
A new range of Canford manufactured fibre optic termination panels is also to receive its UK launch at the show. The panels are based on the existing rugged highly regarded broadcast pattern designs. They are fabricated from extruded aluminium and come featuring a variety of industry standard fibre optic couplers. These new designs have only previously been seen at IBC in September.
The recently launched Canford CatKit CAT5E multicore cables and stage boxes will also be at the show. The 'tourgrade' CAT5E cable assemblies are described as ultra rugged and come in 4 way and 8 way versions. They employ Neutrik etherCON connectors providing a robust solution for the connector terminations. The clever use of Canford’s own flexible CAT5E-F for the individual internal lines maintains ease of deployment even whilst wrapped safely within the tough outer jacket. Canford offer standard lengths of 25m, 50m and 75m and also offer a custom service to order.
A selection of the latest Tascam portable recorders will be available including the new DR-40, the DR-100 and the DR-680. The DR-40 is the latest in Tascam's range of versatile hand held recorders and can record up to four tracks. The device has a clever dual recording mode which captures a safety track at a lower level so users should never lose a recording due to distortion. Recording can be via its built-in condenser microphones, line inputs or balanced XLR and at up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution to SD or SDHC cards up to 32GB.
Tascam's DR-680 provides high quality digital multi-track recording and playback in a single, simple easy to operate package. The recorder is intended for a wide variety of applications including live performance, location and surround recording. The DR-680 can record up to eight individual inputs or six inputs with a stereo mix-down, at a quality up to 96kHz rate and 24-bit depth to SD and SDHC card media. Six microphone inputs provide phantom power and 60dB of gain, alongside a digital S/PDIF or AES/EBU two-channel input. Recordings can be made in BWF or PCM .WAV format of up to eight tracks simultaneously, or in MP3 format of up to four tracks. Alternatively, the DR-680 can capture two-channel, stereo audio at 192kHz, 24-bit, in BWF or PCM .WAV format.
Samples of the unique Canford D'n'A cable range (Digital and Analogue) will be on display. The D’n’A range takes Canford's existing well respected range of audio cable designs and updates them to provide a true 100ohm impedance making the cables perfect for digital as well as analogue signals. An impedance of 100 ohms has been proven to be an optimal impedance for AES/EBU digital audio signals as well as analogue microphone and line level signals. Many of the cables come in Low Fire Hazard (LFH) versions.
The Voice Technologies range of miniature lavalier, head-worn mics, headsets and ear pieces is of the highest broadcast quality and exclusively available via Canford in the UK. The products are already in use at top UK broadcasters and production companies and elsewhere by the Ferrari F1 team in their comms systems and are the chosen waterproof mics for the yachts currently competing to qualify for the world famous America's Cup race. The designs have proven to be most rugged and reliable available today even in the harshest of salt water environments.
Ruige HD video monitors will be be on display in 'on camera' and panel mounted versions. The Ruige TL-480HD series are designed specifically for use as on-camera monitors for DSLR cameras. There are four models available each with differing video signal connectivity. The 4.8 inch LCD screens are high resolution, have wide viewing-angle, and are equipped with a collapsible and removable sun hood, which also serves to protect the LCD screen when closed.
