Hamlet Impress With Vidscope-Plus

A market leader in affordable and practical test and measurement tools, is tackling the challenges of content quality control in the digital environment.
Hamlet's Vidscope-Plus is a software application, running on a standard PC, which analyses all aspects of audio and video either as a file or, with a suitable video capture card, for realtime content.
As a standard test and measurement tool it allows up to six concurrent traces to be displayed on a single monitor. All standard parameters are covered, including video levels, colour gamut, histograms, waveforms and vectors, together with audio levels and phasing for stereo and 5.1 surround sound. Vidscope-Plus also checks for flashing sequences which might trigger photo-sensitive epilepsy (PSE).
What makes the Hamlet Vidscope-Plus such a powerful tool is its ability to perform a complete QC check on a piece of component, logging any out of specification excursions with the appropriate timecodes. Logged parameters also include probable inconsistencies in the programme, such as black frames or colour bars in the content, timecode discontinuities, and technical errors such as white balance shifts, quantisation errors, stuck frames and blocking artefacts. The audio is checked for loudness, overall sound level, clicks, silence and phasing.
“The thinking behind Vidscope-Plus is to put all the quality control tools you need in one instrument, whether you want to automatically analyse a file or use it as a stack of familiar engineering tools,” said Hamlet's Steve Nunney. “Because it is a suite of software running on a standard Windows PC we can make it available at a very attractive price, and it is simple to set up and instantly familiar to users."
IBC visitors can see Vidscope-Plus in action, along with the rest of the Hamlet range, at IBC on stand 9.D10.
