Aspen Media Introduce Aspen MADI

A distributor and professional audio supplier based in Wingrave near Aylesbury, Aspen Media, has launched a dedicated website: www.aspen-madi.com for the supply of products designed for the MADI format.
Chris Collings, Aspen Media's Director, told us: "MADI is a mature format, originally known as ASE10 it's been around since the early '90s and is both stable and resilient. However, for many years it was considered to be just an add-on, something to think about as a last resort, but now with so many tools in this format available, we though it was just the right time to introduce the aspen-madi website.
"The site will be the first in a series of specialist websites and has been designed to be a one-stop shop for MADI interfacing, conversion and routing products. Stagetec uses MADI extensively for connecting its systems to third party equipment so over the years we've gained an excellent understanding of the format by being the UK distributor for its routers and consoles."
MADI (Multichannel Audio Digital Interface) has become a standard format for bulk connections in PA, Broadcast and Recording and is widely used for the transmission of up to 64 channels of audio via a single fibre or coaxial cable at 48 kHz sampling frequency, facilitating cable runs of up to 3000m. 96 kHz sample rate can be achieved for connection of 32 channels. The overall data rate is fixed at 125Mbps. MADI can also transmit MIDI and RS232 making it the preferred format for broadcast studios, outside broadcast and other facilities where it is necessary to efficiently route multi-channel audio.
The companies whose MADI products feature on the aspen-madi site include 4HM, Chromatec, DirectOut Technologies, RME and Stagetec.
