Retouching Voted 'Significant Breakthrough' At NAB

A provider of cost-effective software for digital artists and editors, won the prestigious Mario Award at the 2010 NAB Show for its Beauty Box skin retouching software. Given annually by TV Technology magazine, this award recognises technology that demonstrates technical breakthrough, technical excellence and forward thinking. Digital Anarchy's Beauty Box provides an easy and powerful way of smoothing skin and removing blemishes in film, HD and video.
Organized in 1993, the Mario Awards were established to recognise products that represent significant technical breakthroughs - many of these products and services have gone on to significantly impact the future of audio and video technology. The awards are given out annually at the NAB Show to companies that demonstrate forward thinking and technical excellence in their products.
The video retouching software uses face detection to automatically identify skin tones and create a mask that limits the smoothing effect to skin areas. This process requires little or no input from the user and does not involve hand masking. The skin smoothing uses new technology from Toonamation, Inc to eliminate blemishes and even out skin tones while keeping facial features sharp.
