Cinesite Ramps Up Its Compositing Department

One of the largest film visual effects houses, has heavily expanded its compositing department by investing in a site licence of The Foundry’s Nuke compositing software. This allows the facility to host a significant number of additional seats for its visual effects artists.
Cinesite recently used Nuke as its main compositing tool on the Warner Bros hit Clash of the Titans.
The investment is part of an overall strategy by the company to double in size over the next 18 months following the commission of many projects - including Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt.1, Disney/Pixar’s John Carter of Mars, Fox/Walden’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and the Sony/Columbia picture Battle: Los Angeles.
"As a result of the high demand for our services we evaluated the number of licences for all the software tools we use," said Antony Hunt, Managing Director of Cinesite. "Nuke is a powerful compositing tool and we’ve been using it in our pipeline for over six years. By expanding our seats we’re able to work faster and more efficiently turn around our clients’ projects."
Bill Collis, Chief Executive Officer at The Foundry, commented: "We’re delighted that Cinesite has invested in a site licence and has chosen Nuke as its primary compositing tool. The company works on extremely creative projects and their talented artists showcase to the fullest what our tools can do."
