Uppsala Bildteknik Uses Hamlet Vidscope-BX For Colour Correction Quality Control

Leading Swedish film transfer specialist Uppsala Bildteknik has installed a Hamlet Vidscope-BX software-based test and measurement system as part of its colour grading suite.
Uppsala Bildteknik specialises in archive films, cleaning and repairing the fragile material before scanning to HD, and obtaining the best and most consistent colour and image quality is vital.
The Vidscope-BX is the latest version of Hamlet's software suite of test and quality control tools. It runs on a standard Windows PC with a suitable video I/O board, making it an ideal and cost-effective way of accessing a wide range of high precision test displays. The software is fully customisable, allowing the operator to set the exact combination of test traces on the screen needed for each job.
Kent Kumpula of Uppsala Bildteknik said: "We use the Hamlet Vidscope BX software for monitoring our telecine transfers to both SD and HD. I like the ability to scale and design our own custom set-ups, using several of the parades and vectorscopes at the same time. Also, we are not forced to buy a monitor with a specific resolution - as some of the competing products do - which gives us the freedom to choose any size or design of computer monitor."
Kumpula continued: "The software performs well and does what it is supposed to do. It helps us deliver the best quality to our clients. What more can a professional user ask for?"
Steve Nunney, Director of Hamlet, added: "This is an excellent application for the flexibility of the Vidscope software. In their work, getting the best possible image quality out of archive films, every job has a different challenge and needs a different set-up to ensure all the technical parameters are at their optimum. with Vidscope-BX you have precision test algorithms combined with the ability to set out your monitor the way you need it."
