Digital Offers Memorable Experience To Columbia Visitors

Digital signage has proved to be a solution for keeping visitors to a US convention centre informed.
The city of Columbia was looking for something more engaging and memorable than static signs to educate visitors on the resources the region has to offer as a travel destination for business and leisure.
To achieve its goal, the city required a solution that encompassed the latest technology, but was simple enough to manage. As the most suitable option, the City of Columbia selected X2O Media's Xpresenter Xe, an all-in-one, single-player digital signage system.
For the project, Professional Video Supply, a leading supplier of professional A/V equipment in the Midwest, installed one Xpresenter Xe system each for the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau as part of a lobby renovation project and a third system at the Columbia Regional Airport.
Brad Noblitt, Sales Engineer at Professional Video Supply, said: "The Xpresenter Xe was a perfect fit for this application. Xe has the capability to communicate in an innovative and engaging media environment that is easy for every member of the city's staff to update from a simple web page and PowerPoint."
Powered by a graphics rendering engine used in the broadcast industry, Xe delivers better-than-broadcast-quality output while its easy-to-use configuration screen lets users personalise parameters to quickly produce a completely customised display. Point-and-click management tools allow day-to-day updates to the on-screen content to be made quickly and easily via a web-based control screen. Xe includes a number of links to live data sources such as news and local weather to keep content constantly refreshed.
Megan McConachie, Web and Communication Manager at the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau, said: "Our X2O Xpresenter Xe system has become a fantastic feature in our newly remodeled lobby. Visitors to the building often compliment us on the great information and the beautiful display.
"As far as managing the system, we find uploading new information as easy as creating a new PowerPoint slide. It allows us to create a custom look for our visitor information that integrates seamlessly with the other feeds on the screen. The end result is a dynamic display that gives Columbia visitors another way to gather information and experience our great city."
