Camera Corps Q-Ball Robotic Head To Make European Debut At IBC 2009

Camera Corps will exhibit the latest additions to its range of robotic cameras and remote camera control equipment on Stand 10.C49 at IBC 2009.
Shown in prototype at NAB 2009 in April and now in full production, the Camera Corps Q-Ball is an ultra-compact all-weather robotic head housed in a highly robust sphere machined from solid aluminum. The Q-Ball incorporates a dual-mode 16:9 HD/SD colour camera, high-precision pan-and-tilt, 10:1 zoom optics and infra-red night-vision capability, all under full remote control.
Pan and tilt can be operated at any speed from four seconds to an ultra-slow 20 minutes per 360 degree rotation through an unlimited number of turns with precise joystick-controlled acceleration/deceleration. Integral low-noise motors allow the camera to be respositioned smoothly during live shooting rather than merely between shots. Designed for fast exterior or interior rigging and de-rigging, the Q-Ball measures just 115 mm in diameter and weighs 1.3 kg including mounting-shaft. It can be operated at any angle.
Camera Corps' Managing Director Laurie Frost said: "The Q-Ball is intended for use both in the real world as well as the studio. It is one of the most robust cameras on the market and delivers broadcastable HD and SD video under practically any weather conditions. We operate as a production service company in addition to being a manufacturer. That gives us the advantage of being able to develop equipment based on actual operational experience.
"Q-Ball systems have been tested successfully in major reality shows and at overseas sports events. The spherical design has many practical advantages and also looks good when seen from other cameras. The camera heads can be supplied pre-painted to match any required colour scheme, including jungle camouflage."
