Vizimo 'Revolutionises' TV

An innovative service that enables the discovery, viewing and management of media programming that is most relevant to individual interests, tastes and needs, Vizimo, has announced its debut.
Initially launching in the United Kingdom, Vizimo is available now for more than 200 mobile phone models and will be expanded to other countries and handsets later this year.
Vizimo enables users to discover, plan and discuss media consumption across both scheduled broadcasts and the vast body of video content that is increasingly available on demand.
Vizimo uses automated content analysis, profiling and social networking to guide users to TV programming and content of interest. It also offers tools that allow
users to set recordings and reminders, and to engage in discussion about content. The tools work in a coherent way across mobile, Web and compatible set-top boxes.
Vizimo works with broadcasters and media providers to foster a multi-level relationship with customers that leverages rich interaction and its proprietary recommendation and profiling platform.
The company enables partners to accelerate the adoption of converged media services via mobile, Internet and television, and is currently running trials with leading European media providers, plus an invitation-only beta trial directly with end users.
Vizimo provides a variety of industry-wide benefits. It enables platform owners to easily weave personalized content into people's media lives. That helps platform owners monetize the long tail of their media investments through on-demand consumption of both archived and current content.
It also gives advertisers an integrated platform for delivering highly targeted, cross-platform ad impressions, as well as a way to reach highly niche audiences. Marketers can leverage user profiles and content classification to promote other content within the guide on a one-to-one basis.
It gives producers and content owners a powerful platform for expanding their market and connecting with new viewers. Once a TV programme or other content's description is added to the Vizimo system, content can be connected to users who have matching interests.
That helps producers and content owners ensure that their productions rise to the top of the burgeoning VoD choices available today - a cost-effective way to attract relevant audiences.
"Vizimo is about discovering new, relevant content," said Simon Steward, Chief Executive Officer.
"For consumers, that means watching great TV programs from anywhere whether it be your living room or via the Internet or mobile phone. For advertisers, platform owners, producers, and content owners, Vizimo means never missing an opportunity to reach audiences and to monetize content, regardless of whether viewers are in front of a TV or PC, or on the go."
