Polatis Demonstrates Fibre Connectivity From Base Station Unit To Sony HD Camera

Polatis, a supplier of high performance optical switch technologies, will demonstrate 'base station to HD camera connectivity' - critical for outside broadcast applications - on its Stand 8.B20 at IBC2008.
The demonstration will see the Trinity family of optical video routing switches facilitating bi-directional control and HD traffic over fibre. Trinity will connect with SMPTE bi-directional hybrid cable to a CCU/Base Station and Sony HD Camera.
Trinity is specifically designed for the broadcast, outdoor broadcast and post-production industries.
Sean Gordon, Sales Director of Video Broadcast Products, Polatis, said: "We are excited to be demonstrating our Trinity optical switch connected with SMPTE bi-directional hybrid cable to a CCU/Base Station and HD Camera - this is live proof of the performance of this optical switch in a broadcast environment and the reason why we are able to OEM this product to some of the industry's biggest equipment manufacturers.
"This shows the benefit of pure optical switches over so-called optical-electrical-optical switches for broadcasters in general and outdoor broadcast applications in particular. It will be fantastic demonstration for the audience at IBC."
