Futureheads Pay Tribute To A-Ha Video Classic

Golden Square has just completed post-production on the latest Futureheads video, 'The Beginning of the Twist', the new single from the Sunderland rockers.
The video is a nod to the innovative Take On Me video by A-Ha - which was an amalgamation of rotoscope-style animation and live action, inspired by the animated film Commuter created by Michael Patterson, and the movie Altered States.
The scenes where the band are playing in the storyboard world were originally 3D tracked in Syntheyes and then the tracking data was imported in to Flame 2008.
This allowed Golden Suare to recreate the three-dimensional space of the studio in the suite and place the virtual set pieces in to the shots.
The set pieces were sketched out by hand, scanned in, and comped into the scenes in the suite.
Director James Appleton said: "From The Futureheads previous promos it was pretty clear that some tongue-in-cheek humour would be possible with them. "They are a really great live band, and this track really asks, well pretty much demands for that energy to be captured, so I tried to find a balance."
