UK Specialist Dealers Welcome Latest Sony HD Camcorders
Sony has revealed a number of significant wins in the UK Media and Broadcast market for both tape and file based HD camcorder sales.
In November Sony launched its latest generation of HDV production technologies including two new camcorders that feature interchangeable lens systems, native progressive recording capabilities, increased sensitivity for low-light conditions, hybrid solid-state recording and an array of other features designed for general TV production, videographers, budget movie-makers and corporate video production professionals.
The new models included the HVR-Z7E (handheld) and HVR-S270E (shoulder-mount) camcorders. These flagship professional HDV products expanded Sony’s line-up of HD production technologies, which includes the recently introduced flagship PMW-EX1 XDCAM EX solid-state memory camera.
With one of the largest orders so far, Sony Specialist Dealer, WTS Broadcast have reaffirmed their commitment to Sony technology, with an investment for 150 HVR-Z7E (handheld) and 30 HVR-S270E (shoulder mount) camcorders. In addition, WTS Broadcast has also placed an order for the new HVR-M35E playback and recording deck also launched this year as part of the next generation of Sony HDV products.
The new entry level tape based camcorders use Sony’s new 1/3-inch 3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor system enhanced by the technology of Exmor. With its 45-degree rotated pixel layout, the 3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor system offers sufficient pixel surface area whilst keeping high resolution. The technology of Exmor allows these HDV camcorders to achieve high quality digital signals with extremely low noise. WTS Broadcast has purchased these cameras to predominately target corporate and education markets.
“We believe in and are committed to the new Sony HDV range. With this order we believe that there are more future opportunities for the freelance and videographer market as well, perhaps even with broadcasters themselves” commented Ofir Mor, Managing Director, WTS Broadcast. “We are very excited with the wide range of broadcast materials which Sony has to offer, the HDV range is just another example of how Sony are almost tailoring their technology to specific needs of its customers, and is why we are willing to make such a large investment.”
Confirming its commitment to Sony’s next generation HDV products Sony Specialist Dealer, H Preston Professional Video has placed an order for 100 HVR-S270E (shoulder-mount) and 100 HVR-7ZE (handheld) camcorders. H Preston Professional Video is one of the first European dealers to commit to significant orders for the new HDV products. With a core customer base consisting of universities, and other educational institutions, the next generation of HDV products will be a welcome addition to H Preston Professional Videos current broadcast equipment line up. John Preston, General Manager, H Preston Professional Video commented about the deal: “We are pleased to invest in these new models, the HDV range will appeal to around 80% of our customers from Universities to educational suppliers, the high quality picture images and workflow benefits, make it an ideal solution and is why we have made a valuable commitment to this technology.”
