Musical Biopic Hits The Right Notes

Launched earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, 'Joe Strummer: The Future is unwritten' went on to become one of the biggest screen hits of the summer gaining a cult following from fans across the world both new and old.
Directed by lifelong friend and confidant Julien Temple, the film with never seen before footage, allows a rare insight into the mind of a music genius whilst capturing the spirit of the punk generation.
The much hyped biopic, re-released courtesy of 4DVD on 3rd December, has been nominated in the Best British Documentary category at this year’s British Independent Film Awards highlighting Temple’s brilliance as a director and Joe’s unrivalled talent that provides the incredible content for the film.
Born in London in 1953, Temple was heavily involved in the 1970s punk scene leading to his friendship with The Sex Pistols and his making of the documentary The Great Rock And Roll Swindle. That made way to feature films such as Absolute Beginners as well as working with such comedic luminaries as the Comic Strip’s Rik Mayall, Adrian Edmondson and Jennifer Saunders.
His music video credits include working with David Bowie (Beginners, Blue Jean), Duran Duran (Come Undone), Janet Jackson (When I think of You), Paul McCartney (Beautiful Night), The Kinks (Come Dancing), The Rolling Stones (Undercover of the Night), Tom Petty (Into the Great Wide Open), Whitney Houston (I’m Your Baby Tonight) and the Scissor Sisters (Return to Oz) amongst many others.
